Stay Social with YES:

Projects

To anchor the 5th Global YES Summit, Rework the World in tangible action, it takes its starting point in actual initiatives gathered from around the world. These illustrate the emerging new business and organisational models we need for tomorrow, based on new values, organisational designs and uses of technology.

The initiatives are diverse, but they all illustrate ways to combine the necessity of structurally transforming our economy, with the social imperative of providing opportunities for the younger generation through effective job generation and educational initiatives. If adequately developed they all have the potential for large scale mobilisation. They could therefore provide avenues for positive and concrete mass engagement. As such the projects provide tangible examples of the forces that could help Rework the World.

Over 90 initiatives are now part of the 5th Global YES Summit, Rework the World, and we are expecting many more to join in as we move closer to the Summit. On the website you will find some examples of concrete initiatives that are reworking the world and in February 2010, an online community will be available where project owners can share and discuss their initiatives in preparation for the Summit.

The approach is grounded in systems’ thinking and aims to increase the impact of existing efforts by linking green entrepreneurs and business models, with local youth networks and supporters, such as investors and government.

These efforts are expected to have generated tangible results already at the Summit in June 2010, where a much larger group, networks, investors and policy makers will come together to further the youth green employment agenda, and help take specific ideas and efforts to the next level.

The projects are gathered under 5 themes:

1. Energy
2. Water
3. Land
4. Cities
5. People

Complementing these five themes, and cross-cutting, is the theme of Finance/supporting models.
