IMPORTANT TRANSIT VISA INFORMATION

Transit visas are SEPERATE from your Mexican visa.

Some countries require transit visas if you have a layover or plane change at their airport. For example, if you are flying from Nigeria to Mexico via London, you may need a transit visa. Please be aware of this when you book your plane ticket.

What to do:

Figure out which country your flight goes through and contact your local embassy for any transit visa requirement. For example, if your flight goes through Spain contact your local Spanish embassy, they will tell you what to do. There is an application process that may take some time so apply as soon as possible.

If you have a connecting flight and are worried about transit visas, contact your local embassy for more info. For example, if you fly through Italy, contact the local Italian embassy.

I will be/am planning on getting a connecting flight through the USA, what do I do?

Depending on your home country, American transit visas may be difficult and/or timely to obtain. Contact your local American embassy as soon as possible. Where possible, we recommend not connecting in the States if you need a transit visa due to the length of time it make take to get it.

Which countries require transit visas?

Many of the EU countries, Canada and the States require them DEPENDING on your home country. Each country has different requirements depending on your nationality.

Is there a fee for transit visas?

There may be depending on which country you are flying through.

How long does it take to get a transit visa?

The process depends on your nationality and the country through which you are flying. Expect at least a 3-5 working day process.
