INITIATIVES /
BUILDING INFRASTRUCTURE AND NETWORK CAPACITY The ability of YES networks to affect real social change is dependent on how they are structured, particularly
given prevailing cultural, governmental, economic, and environmental factors. Given these conditions, network
leaders must devise appropriate structures and forge effective partnerships.

DEVELOPING PROGRAMS AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
YES networks design effective and targeted employment programs that impact youth and build credibility
with stakeholders. Capacity-building workshops provide youth with access to basic job training and to
technical skills. In addition, development sector programs bridge two pressing problems in the developing
world: youth unemployment and economic development needs. Through these programs, YES provides youth
with opportunities to build leadership, management, and entrepreneurial skills in the context of sustainable
development.

ENLISTING PARTNERS AND FUNDERS
The YES model calls for networks to develop strong multi-stakeholder engagement strategies. These include
formalizing pro-youth government policies, securing fi rm local banking support, and finding matching funds
from governments and private sector donors. YES also encourages its networks to develop meaningful, longterm
relationships through active communication and collaboration.
