Youth Employment Systems

A FRAMEWORK FOR ACTION /
Over the years, YES has initiated over 400 programs worldwide to promote youth employability and employment creation. YES has developed a dual approach to deepen its impact. First, YES networks organize training and capacity-building programs. Second, networks enable youth to create sustainable job opportunities in specific sectors.>>

CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMS /
These programs focus on informal education, entrepreneurial mentorship, and leadership development. The skills developed enable youth to take advantage of employment opportunities and provide a foundation for adressing the youth unemployment problem.

DEVELOPMENT SECTOR PROGRAMS /
These programs provide targeted training and work opportunities in the five YES development sectors. YES identified these sectors at the Hyderabad Regional Forum because of their direct relevance to development in emerging markets. In each of these areas, there is a high demand for skilled labor that is currently not being met.

SECTOR OBJECTIVES /
Renewable Energy (RE): Organize youth to assemble, install, service, and market RE systems
HIV/AIDS: Increase awareness of and develop solutions to fi ght HIV/AIDS
Rural Development: Mobilize youth to develop agricultural extension programs
ICT: Develop programs to support ICT-based entrepreneurship
Water and Sanitation: Improve the availability and supply of safe water and sanitation services
