YES and YEN work towards National Action Plan in Brazil
Recognizing the importance of the co-operation between YES and the Youth Employment Network (YEN), YES Brazil has been working closely with YEN Brazil as an important stakeholder in the 'YEN-Brazil advisory group' since Brazil became a lead country to create National Action Plans (NAP) with the support of the YEN. A group of local youth organizations, including YES Brazil, convened soon after the NAP on Youth Employment was submitted to the YEN Secretariat in early March, to formalize a “term of cooperation and joined actions” to implement the NAP.
The Brazilian NAP is based on fortifying the Government’s “First Employment” Program through three strategies/activities designed in a series of multi-stakeholders workshops:
- Development of a communications network;
- Training plan for capacity building - local youth organizations to participate in decision-making;
- Pilot initiative at the municipal level to decentralize the program.
Currently, YES Brazil is working to fortify and decentralize the YES Brazil Network through the design of a national project to stimulate and support the creation of local networks, and as committed in the NAP, help the Brazilian Government in the process of creating local/municipal action plans on youth employment.
YES Brazil is also supporting the convening of the youth organizations of the YEN Lead Countries concurrently with the Lead Country Ministers Meeting to be held in Brazil in 2005.
