• Founded a civil society initiative, in conflict country, under the banner of YES Somalia Network, in 2002, that helps the low income youth who have been devastated by prolonged civil war and ethnic strife for almost 20 years.
• Vision is to improve the living conditions of the youth in Somalia through education, skill development, employment creation and through convening stakeholders to engage in systematic advocacy to influence government, Community, international Organizations to support youth and youth serving organizations.
• Initiated several youth employment programs and projects in the areas of youth leadership building, employment creation, entrepreneurship development, youth empowerment, income generation, demobilization of militia, environmental protection, peace promotion, HIV/AIDS, Gender Issues, Human rights, peace building and conflict reconciliation.
• Raised over US $ 50,000 from key partners such as Dikonia for the afore said development activities.
• Serves as the YES Leader for Somalia for the past 3 years (Volunteers Time).
• Attained global exposure at YES Alexandria 2002, AYP 2003, YES Kenya 2006, YES Azerbaijan 2008 and Symposium Civil Society Leader 2003.
• Faiza Abdi Nur has a bachelors degree in Business Administration and Community Development.
