Vision : Promoting ecological and green tourism to promote green jobs, in view of the fact that
there is lot of potential for sustainable employment in agriculture since Romania has at least 2
billion hectares for developing an Ecological Agricultural system.
Background : The unemployment rate in Romania is 7. 7%. In a single month in May 2009,
1.700 people lost their jobs. YES Romania is working on confronting these unemployment
issues.
About the Network : YES Romania host organization is "MARAMURES" and it also runs a
foundation, Children for Children -Children for Peace Foundation. Livia Sima, the Vice-president
of the foundation and founder member of the foundation was Minister of Tourism in 2006.
Current Major Initiatives :
- Initiated Children for Children -Children for Peace Foundation to promote and defend
youth and children’s rights, according to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,
endorsed by the ONU General Assembly and according to the Convention of the Rights
of the Child, endorsed on January the 20th 1989 by the United Nations and also signed
by Romania.
- Its main goals were to organize and initiate certain manifestations whose main purpose
is to defend the individual and collective rights of the children and youth, to protect them
against moral and physical abuses in the family and society.
- YES Romania has organized many round tables, seminars and conferences promoting
cooperation with local and central authorities.
- Given scholarships to students for their education in the country and abroad.
- Organizes training courses, for qualification and specialization of the personnel working
in rural areas.
- Created partnerships with associations in the country and abroad to promote the goal of
the foundation.
- YES Romania has collaborated with many national, European and international
organization as possible and to participate in similar activities in the country and abroad
for the integration of children and youth of Romania in a European and Universal
context.
- The Foundation intends to organize a data bank and a library where members and
followers may find all the data regarding children and youth rights.
Key Accomplishments :
- Successfully implemented Phare Romania Project- training courses for unemployed
youth and over 300 young people attended career counseling courses. Out of which
150 young people had career counseling courses in 2009 and 40% got an excellent job
opportunities.
- Many training courses were established in career counseling in rural area.
- In January, 2009, over 40 young people got career counseling out of which 50%
developed their own family business.
- Enrolled major partners like: National Agency for Unemployment Romania, Patronage
of Rural Tourism in Romania, National Asso ciation for Rural Ecological and Cultural
Tourism , Maramures, Association for Promoting and Developing Tourism, Maramures,
Maramures County Inspectorate of Education and County council.
